Context
The showpiece of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was the Olympic Park, a previously brown field site, where 80% of the Games activities would be held.
What we did
Facilitator/integrator informing the design of the Olympic Park including transport arterial routes and transport hubs within the Park and surrounding area, ensuring that the designs had the capacity and were fit for purpose for the Olympic and Paralympic use with sustainability and legacy use built-in. Balanced the competing demands on limited space from a wide range of stakeholders.
Further developed plans creating the transport operating plans for all venues and hubs within and around the Olympic Park including the Athlete Village, Main Media Centre, Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Velodrome, Basketball Arena, Handball Arena, Water Polo Arena, Sponsor Hospitality Village, multiple transport malls including Spectator, Media, Sponsor, Athlete. Developed and delivered all Ceremony operations. Comprehensive scoping of resources.
Provided leadership throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games for all aspects of transport in and around the Olympic Park where 80% of all Games activity took place.
Conclusion
Successfully took the Olympic Park from a brownfield wasteland to the centrepiece of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
