Context

As the host city, London, through the organising committee (LOCOG) was required to provide a fleet-based transport solution for the Olympic and Paralympic Family.

What we did

Led by John Fryer, the Fleet team was responsible for creating, developing and evolving all operational plans to enable the delivery, receipt, preparation, commissioning, operational use and recovery & repatriation of 4,800 car fleet vehicles for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As the Head of Fleet at LOCOG, and a key member of the Transport Department, John overcame significant budgetary and operational challenges, delivering an efficient and effective service with thousands of vehicles and drivers across the UK.

Rob DeMayo, Head of Bus Systems, LOCOG.

Conclusion

Considered to be the benchmark of operational excellence in Fleet planning. John and James were subsequently approached by the IOC to become consulting advisors to Toyota in advance of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
